Floridan Aquifer Raw Water Transmission Main
To transport the Floridan aquifer supply water to the ROWTP, the City constructed almost 5,000 feet of 12-inch through 30-inch raw water transmission main, including a 60-inch jack and bore under the CSX Railroad.
Special consideration was given to pipeline material selection to be resistant to corrosion from the brackish raw water. Significant attention was given to conflict avoidance with utility pipelines at the existing Water Treatment Plant site, adjacent areas, and ongoing I-95 expansion project. Extensive coordination was conducted with Palm Beach County Parks and Recreation Department, Board of County Commissioners, and the State of Florida in Tallahassee, for routing the pipeline through a portion of John Prince Park adjacent to Lake Osborne Drive.
